Raymond Stewart, a heralded Olympian is one of Jamaica’s most decorated sprinters. He is a five time Olympian having competed in the 1984, 1988, 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games. He is also credited with breaking the 10 second barrier in the 100m several times over, an unprecedented accomplishment.
Raymond began his track and field career in Jamaica as a student-athlete at Camperdown High School. Post Camperdown, Raymond went on to Texas Christian University (TCU) where he enjoyed a very successful career. At TCU Raymond was an NCAA Champion in the 100m (9.97) and ran a leg on the NCAA champion 4x100m relay that ran a blazing 38.23 which, at the time was the 3rd fastest in history, and still stands as a U.S. collegiate record.
In 1984, Raymond was the youngest male track and field athlete to compete in the Olympic Games. At the tender age of 19, Raymond anchored Jamaica to a silver medal and was a finalist in the 100m. He was a finalist in the 100m and 4x100m in both the 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympics in Seoul and Barcelona, making him the only man to run in 3 consecutive 100m Olympic finals!
Raymond claimed the Silver medal in the 100m as well as Bronze in the 4x100m at the 1987 World Championships.

Team Jamaica Bickle is proud to present the ladies of Team Bickle to compete at this year’s Gibson Relays in Kingston Jamaica. The team will consist of athletes from the US. We will send a 4x400m team as well as a 4x800m team. The athletes to compete include Claudia and Phyllis Francis, Whitney Fountain, Charlene Lipsey, Doris Anyanwu, and Dana Walsh. TJB hopes to be the trendsetter in bringing more US teams to Gibson Relays in years to come Phyllis Francis holds a 2:04.83 800m PR which ranks as a national youth and USATF Junior Olympic record and also the fastest time in the world in 2008 for 15 year olds. She also boasts a PR 1:29.65 over 600m (a US sophomore record and second fastest time in US History for High School girls). Claudia Francis (Phyllis’s younger sister) currently holds the second fastest time in the US over 1000m (2:50.43) and has run 2:10.76 as an 8th grader. Claudia is also an all American over 800m and 1500 meters. Charlene Lipsey is an Indoor and Outdoor 800m all American and has run 55.75 for 400m and 2:07.46 for 800m. Lipsey has also run 129.85 for 600mwhich is the 4th fastest time for High School girls in US history. Doris Anyanwu split 53.6 to help Eleanor Roosevelt HS win the High School Girls 4x400m Championship of America at the 2008 Penn Relay Carnival! She has run 54 seconds in the open 400m and hopes to lead TJB to victory at the Gibson Relays. Whitney Fountain is an All American 100m (11.8) and 200m (24.0) sprinter who is capable of a 54 split on a 4x400m. Whitney also holds a PR of 20-11.25 feet in the Long Jump and is the current leader at the 2009 Colgate Women’s Games in both the 55m and 200m events. Dana Walsh is an All American miler (5:02) and has run 2:14 800m. Dana has 2:58 100m to credit so far this year. |

Held at the University of Pennsylvania from April 23rd-25th, Penn Relays is the oldest and largest annual track and field competition in the United States, attracting more than 15,000 participants from high schools, colleges, and track and field clubs throughout North American and abroad. Last month, USA Track and Field Chief Executive Doug Logan proposed USA vs Jamaica -- a face-to-face competition of the world's two dominating sprinting nations -- citing the lively Penn Relays competition as one of the main reasons for the proposal. Logan, in a letter to Jamaican track executive and representative of the North America, Central America, and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Neville "Teddy" McCook, stated:

Jamaican nationals will be joining a long list of supporters by traveling all the way to New York and attending the TJB Benefit concert. Along the east coast, in neighboring states, fans and supporters of Jamaican athletes are gearing for the nearby competition and Concert. From as far as Florida, Cocoa Tea fans, Ritchie Spice fans are among those who have found their way to purchasing a ticket to support both Jamaican artists and athletes. |

Team Bickle’s all-star squad won two relays at the prestigious Gibson Relays in Kingston, Jamaica this weekend, smashing one meet record. The team, mostly made up of New Yorkers, broke the meet record while winning the 4x800 Saturday in 8:41.92, besting a mark set by Jamaica’s Holmwood Tech in 2002 of 8:48.96. A squad of Marielle Hall (2:13.5), Phyllis Francis (2:11.1), Chelsey Sveinsson (2:10.6) and Claudia Francis (2:05.8) took the lead after Hall’s leg and kept extending. Team Bickle USA defeated Jamaican high schools Edwin Allen, which placed second in 8:51.57.
